| Adobe Scene7 Publishing System (SPS)
Integration with the Adobe Web Experience Management (WEM) solution – provides powerful end-to-end workflows to manage and deliver rich media assets. Adobe Scene7 and WEM (formerly known as CQ5) combine asset review and versioning workflows in WEM with rich media content delivery across channels and devices. Additionally, Scene7 viewers enable rich and immersive visualization of dynamic media assets in WEM-controlled web templates.
SPS usability improvements – Enhance the overall SPS user experience and workflow, including:
- SPS/MP users and roles across companies provide company administrators and Media Portal (MP) administrators with the ability to add the same user to multiple accounts and assign different user roles by company.
- CDN cache clear facilitates more rapid updating of web content by removing assets labeled as “Invalidate CDN” by SPS company administrators. Notification of results are provided via email.
- Expanded asset folder list on sign-in displays all first-level subfolders on sign-in to SPS for easy navigation;
- Configurable sign-out warning pop-up note lets users enable or disable the sign-out warning message when a user moves away from the SPS/MP page using browser controls.
- Asset size in browse views displays asset size along with other asset attributes.
- Improved authoring of image map and cropping easily runs slight adjustments to an image, with keyboard keys enabled to edit vertex locations in mapping and cropping editors. This functionality applies to rectangular and polygonal boundaries, and always applies to the selected vertex
- Addition of polygonal points to rectangle image maps adds polygonal points to rectangle image maps when Ctrl is pressed while hovering over the edge of a rectangular map. An insertion cursor lets you add a point to create a polygonal map.
- New polygon density slider for image maps user controls to adjust point density in a polygon.
- Expanded asset type support provides support for several new file types for uploading, searching and browsing, and publishing tasks, including SWC files (Flash library files), CSS files (for HTML5 viewers), animated GIF files, JavaScript files (viewer configuration)
- Set membership for images is now in the detail view for an image.
- XML file contents shows XML file contents in SPS.
- Folder creation upload option provides users with the flexibility to create new folders or subfolders in the asset tree.
- Concurrent user session updates & notifications alerts users signed into SPS when assets are uploaded or edited by other users. If concurrent edits of an asset are in progress, the user will be prompted to accept or reject these changes. Changes to assets and folders are automatically refreshed in all active sessions.
- HTTPS/SSL encryption support (America & Europe datacenters) adds an additional security layer for SPS access.
Enhanced image search in SPS — Using similarity search, find images visually similar to a given image:
- Search by color or shape or both to pinpoint assets with a similar shape and color;
- Combine similarity search with metadata search in the advance search user interface
- Easily find duplicate image assets
- Search using advanced search criteria

More secure testing environment — A new facility providing a secure testing server environment will be available on a company basis. This is ideal for customers who need to test new product updates and website designs in a secured environment with controlled access, prior to publishing to live servers for public launch.
Contact the Adobe Scene7 support team (s7support@adobe.com) to enable this feature.
Beta feature Metadata Server — Provides technology to store and access metadata on published assets independent of the Scene7 Image Server. Capabilities include:
- Query for an asset’s Metadata
- Search for asset by Metadata
- Web based URL query with result XML or JSON formatted
- User interface in SPS to define and publish Metadata that the Metadata Server exposes
This new technology is currently in beta, and requires development work. Contact the Scene7 support team (s7support@adobe.com) to join the beta program and test in a secure environment.
Media Portal
Generic user name and password support —The sign-in page directs MP users who have forgotten the password on their account to contact the Media Portal administrator and prohibits changing the generic password.
Notice to Image Portal 3.1 Users Only
IP 3.1 decommissioned — Since the beginning of last year, your company has been able to use both the Image Portal and MP concurrently to facilitate a smooth transition from IP to MP. Adobe has provided multiple notices that IP 3.1 will be decommissioned with the fall 2011 update (v5.5). After this update, customers must use MP exclusively and no IP access will be available; all users with IP access will be redirected to MP automatically. The redirect page includes instructions and a link to MP documentation and training. It also includes directions to contact your company system administrator if you need further assistance. Going forward, MP is the single portal solution for all continued development, including new features, enhancements, and updates.
