Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation, one of the nation's leading lifestyle
manufacturers, is using Scene7s complete platform to streamline
its web production and publishing process and to enhance web product
presentation. Today, Polo Ralph Lauren (Polo) works with several 3rd
party photography studios to scan hundreds of fabric swatches and
photograph furniture pieces to present its full product catalog online
to customers and decorators. Polo receives these digital scans on
CDs through the mail.
On its website, customers and designers can choose an upholstery frame
and see any fabric option applied to the piece. In addition, they
can zoom fabric details. In order to implement these features, Scene7
requires an additional set of digital fabric and furniture items to
be sent to Scene7s hosted distributed imaging network. In order
to streamline this process and to eliminate duplication and delivery
of image CDs to multiple parties, Polo is using Scene7s
Image Production System. This browser-based, centralized image system,
allows users to organize, edit, transform, and publish images directly
to websites or offline uses. Polo plans to expand its use of the system
to schedule and receive image uploads from photography partners, edit
and modify images when necessary and then schedule publishing directly
to Scene7s hosted distributed image serving network for dynamic
zooming of fabric swatches and real-time rendering of furniture pieces.
Results: Polo estimates it will reduce up to 60%
of its image production costs and publishing time by moving to Scene7s
Image Production System. By implementing this new process, Polo will
eliminate excess image duplication and manual image delivery while
enhancing its customers web experience through Scene7 dynamic
visualization capabilities.
Scene7s Image Production helps Polo easily organize
and publish fabric images directly to Scene7 Image Serving network
for detailed zooming. Were anxious to begin the next phase
to streamlining our web publishing by making this system our web image
central repository. Paul Zaengle, Senior Director,
