on creating an immersive, relaxing shopping experience that fosters
creativity whether it be online, through its retail stores, or print
catalogs. All of its products are manufactured exclusively for Illuminations,
giving a uniquely personal and distinctive touch to the entire product
line. Illuminations is always looking for new ways to improve its
customer relationships, and wanted to extend the use of its print
catalogs to strengthen and build its multi-channel revenues.

Illuminations looked to Scene7 to implement enhanced Web versions
of its print catalogs. Using Scene7’s full service hosted eCatalog
solution option, Illuminations decided to outsource the task of publishing
and hosting its Web catalogs. Illuminations simply delivers its PDFs
of its printed catalogs to Scene7, and Scene7 does the rest of the
work.
Scene7 uploads the PDF files into its hosted Dynamic Imaging on Demand
network, which automatically orders each catalog page properly, and
adds hot links to product pages on the Illuminations’ Website.
Interactive features such as zoom and pan are automatically added
during the creation of the eCatalog. The catalog is then published
to Scene7’s hosted network for final review by Illuminations,
and once approved, is linked to the Illuminations’ Homepage.
The entire process typically can be turned around in less than a week.
Once published, Illuminations customers can view these catalogs through
their Flash-enabled browser. The immersive experience includes dynamic
zooming and panning of product images, realistic looking page flipping,
sticky notes with individual annotation, rollover product descriptions
and tool tip help. Eventually, Illuminations may consider taking its
catalog publishing in-house as Scene7 has a variety of licensing options
from outsourced “On Demand” to packaged software.
Results:
Scene7’s eCatalog solution is helping Illuminations improve
the online visual representation of its product line and deliver a
cost-effective way to expand its multi-channel reach. Illuminations
expects the added features to increase conversion rates as well as
foster brand loyalty – at a lower total cost than competitive
