ExOfficio, a division of K2 Inc., creates adventure clothing innovations for outdoor & travel enthusiasts, with state-of-the-art technical features and benefits. Distributed through specialty outdoor, fly-fishing, travel and luggage stores globally as well as direct on its e-commerce site, the company’s performance fabrics and innovative designs have led people to expect more from their clothing. In order to streamline content delivery to its channel, the company needed to create a secure portal environment for its 500+ dealer channel and marketing partners, to locate, transform and download imagery to support marketing and selling efforts.

The company was manually creating Coop CDs containing images and graphics for its partners. These requests came in daily, with varying requirements from low to high resolution, Web versus print, CMYK versus RGB, and many different colors, sizes and formats – constantly diverting the Web team from Web site responsibilities. ExOfficio’s internal systems, including its content management system, did not provide the ease of use, performance and cost efficiencies the company needed.

In addition, on its e-commerce site, www.exofficio.com, the company offers the full range of its products and options. The Web team wanted to increase conversions and revenues on the site by enhancing the product imagery, providing shoppers with critical visual details, as well as standardize its imagery for sizing consistency and quality.

Solution:
ExOfficio implemented the Scene7 On-Demand platform to solve both its enhanced visual merchandising and content distribution challenges. ExOfficio leverages Scene7’s Dynamic Imaging solution to offer zoom and pan, dynamic sizing and color swatching capabilities to drive conversions on its e-commerce site. With Scene7, Ex-Officio’s Web team simply uploads its high-resolution product imagery and publishes to its Web site. All content imagery is dynamically sized, formatted and colored automatically via URL calls to the original master content hosted on Scene7 servers. Scene7 On-Demand is the ideal solution for ExOfficio to manage its limited resources, as Scene7 provides all the serving, caching, technical support and managed services to support content delivery to its site.

The company extended its use of Scene7 On-Demand to include Scene7 Image Portal. Scene7 Image Portal is a low-cost, turnkey, hosted application that provides companies like ExOfficio with the ability to easily acquire, control and distribute approved brand assets to external partners and channels, as well as internal business users. This browser-based, “self-serve” environment provides portal end users rights to access, browse, search, preview and export corporate controlled imagery in pre-approved formats.

Unlike other image portals, Scene7 Image Portal seamlessly integrates with Scene7’s rich media Web publishing platform, giving creative teams the tools to create, manage and publish assets to Web sites AND make available this content to portal end users.

Results:
ExOfficio has leveraged Scene7’s platform for both direct and indirect sales and marketing efforts. ExOfficio continues to measure increases in conversions and revenue from its e-commerce site; and it is simultaneously driving down imaging costs for its channels by 25 percent with Scene7 Image Portal. Additionally, ExOfficio provides hundreds of dealers instant access to the latest product imagery, which has dramatically shortened time to market.
