DCS is focused on training and solutions for new home builders and
contractors. DCS started by creating products that focused on building
solutions for new home Design Centers - which represent a multi-billion
dollar business. DCS created videos, kiosks, and Websites and eventually
evolved into helping new home builders build a suite of communication
products for the entire new home selling process. DCS wanted to create
an online solution for new home builders that would enable their customers
to choose upgrade products such as flooring, countertops, cabinetry,
paints and appliances in a photo-realistic room setting – to
help buyers connect with the products and make informed purchase decisions
before visiting the Design Center. DCS required a solution that would
allow them to cost-effectively create digital imagery that would best
represent the products in context, and provide the visual information
required to drive a purchase decision.

DCS utilized Scene7’s Product Configurators to enhance its industry-leading
program by adding “virtual room design” capabilities.
Branded “Creating Your Space”, home builders can give their
customers the ability to visualize their own home upgrade choices
such as flooring, countertops, cabinetry, paints and appliances in
a photo-realistic room setting – generating more upgrades, increasing
customer satisfaction and ultimately, driving more profit per home
sale.
DCS wanted to avoid the “generic” build your own solutions
currently available, and tailor the presentation of product imagery
specifically to the customer’s model home. Using Scene7’s
Product Configurators, DCS created “virtual rooms” that
allow users to click on any area in the room such as the floor, cabinets,
or countertop to automatically be presented all the product options
available in that particular home development. As a user clicks on
a selection, the product will dynamically appear in the room – in
perfect photo-quality. Home buyers can save their selections and print
out a visual summary of each room and bring them to the Design Center
to make their selections and purchase their home products. Scene7’s
real-time customization allows for nearly unlimited design combinations
while avoiding costly build-outs and photography.

Results:
Scene7’s Product Configurators is having a direct positive impact
on DCS sales. The addition of Scene7 to the “Creating Your Space”
application has enabled DCS to reach its year end revenue goal in
less than 4 months. A survey of approximately 800 home buyers from
the DCS Website revealed that the number one requested feature was
“View products in a room.” Approximately 48% of all respondents
requested this feature, more than two to one over any other request.
“It is very clear to us that offering this single feature has
made a big impact on our builders and ultimately their customers,”
said Vogel.
Enabling the customer to quickly and easily find the products that
are available for their particular home has helped differentiate Design
Center Solutions from their competition, and has shortened the sales
cycle for both DCS and their home builders. “We have been primarily
a communicator to the new home buyer from the home builder –
helping educate the home buyer on behalf of the builder – and
Scene7’s powerful imaging capabilities have enabled us to bring
new products to this market. The “Creating Your Space”
room designer helps home buyers visualize their new house as their
new home. It helps make them pre-disposed to buy, and the addition
of Scene7’s Product Configurators has helped make our tools
much more valuable to the builder.”
An updated version of the “Creating Your Space” application
launches this month. New home builders such as Shea Homes will be
utilizing the new application at launch. DCS anticipates 25 existing
clients moving to the new system, and new clients signing on in the
next 60 days.
In the future DCS plans to utilize additional Scene7 solutions such
as Dynamic Imaging, eCatalog, and eVideos as they expand into new
vertical markets.

product mix has helped us move our business from a regional to a national
